The public is invited to a panel discussion and screening of the recently released documentary, “Defending Gideon,” a film that examines the case of Clarence E. Gideon, who challenged the fact that he could not afford a lawyer to defend himself against a conviction 50 years ago, setting off what would become a Consitituional right to an attorney. Following the film screening will be a panel discussion of Gideon’s impact on prosecution and defense and the legislative process.
