Stripped
Eddie recently broke box office records selling out a five week residency in London's West End in less than forty-eight hours. Stripped which came hot on the heels of his American sell-out tour across 34 Us cities - including three nights at New York's legendary Radio City Music Hall - was indisputably the hottest tickets of 2008 on both sides of The Atlantic. Now Eddie, the man who turned talking bollocks into an art form has announced he will tour the Uk with Stripped. This will be Eddie's… Show more

Eddie Izzard
An enormously popular British comedian known as much for his transvestitism as he is for his excoriating social observations, Eddie Izzard is one of the most gleefully unpredictable — to say nothing of contradictory — performers to have sabotaged the stage and screen during the late 20th century....

As someone who has come to LOVE Eddie's work via Netflix DVDs, BBC America and YouTube I couldn't wait to finally see him live. However, I walked away last night a bit underwhelmed. The acoustics at DAR Constitution Hall lost several of his punchlines (to the point even one guy yelled out could you hold the mic closer the acoustics suck!).
That wasn't Eddie's fault but I did feel he didn't bring his A game last night. I felt like some of his material was just recycled from previous shows. They were just slightly altered. I was expecting a show of completely new material.
With that said I would still pay to see him again. I laughed quite a bit when I could hear (bad venue) and enjoy his take on things. I wouldn't say my feelings of underwhelmedness (is that a word) was due to Eddie but more the venue and sound system. Eddie is one of my favorites and I loved seeing the crowd embrace him and give him standing ovations when he came in and when he left.

Honestly, I've been a little disappointed with Eddie Izzard since "Dress to Kill". That still ranks as probably the best stand up act I've ever seen, but his work since then hasn't been nearly as good.
