Speaker Bios
FRANK Deangelis is the Principal of Columbine HS. This presentation has rarely been given and in it he reveals the leadership lessons learned from the 1999 tragedy. This blunt, straight forward account provides invaluable insights into managing the after crisis with students, staff, community and the never ending media attention.
JOHN-MICHAEL Keyes is the Executive Director of the "I Love U Guys" Foundation. The death of his daughter Emily, at the hands of a gunman at Platte Canyon HS compelled Mr. Keyes to apply his professional expertise to school safety. With a combination of humor and heart, his presentation includes powerful reminders of the importance of recognizing that no school is immune, and offers free resources available to districts, departments and agencies.
SHERIFF Fred Wegener graduated from the Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy, Aurora Police Department Detention Academy & the FBI National Academy. He was an integral part of Incident Command at the Platte Canyon HS Hostage Crisis in Baily, Co.
DR. John Nicoletti Psy.D is a Clinical/Police Psychologist specializing in identifying, assessing and defusing attack related behaviors and violence. He was on scene at the Columbine HS shooting and has been asked to take part in several high profile investigations including the shooting at Virginia Tech and the Aurora Movie Theater massacre. Dr.Nicoletti has published several books on the subject including "Violence Goes to Work".
JOE Bergant is the Superintendent of Chardon Public Schools where the events that took place on Feb. 27, 2012 shocked a salt of the earth, small town America, haven.
