Dorthea Lange: an Eye for Social Justice

Wednesday, Dec 11, 2013 7:00p

"Dorthea Lange’s (1895-1965) career has given us some of the most well-known images of the 1930s and 40s, recording the struggles of hard pressed Americans during the Great Depression, through WWII and the Japanese internment camps. Though not overtly political, Lange believed in social justice and she meant for her photographs to serve as “evidence” of the lives of sorrow and deprivation in America. Speaker Monica Black is a PhD candidate in American Women's History through Boston College.
