Cantata Singers: Bach and Ruehr

Saturday, Nov 8 8:00p

Cantata Singers’ 51st season commences with a program featuring the world premiere of Elena Ruehr’s Eve paired with two cantatas by J.S. Bach—his dazzlingly contrapuntal cantata BWV 77, “Du sollt Gott, deinen Herren, lieben” and festive wedding cantata BWV 195a, “Dem Gerechten muß das Licht”. Cantata Singers has commissioned Boston-based composer and 2014 Guggenheim fellow Elena Ruehr to write Eve, a new work for choir and orchestra that uses text from Genesis 3, the Fall of Man.
