FAQ's (please read them)
1. What am I getting for $40.00/ person? Why is it so much money? or Why is it so little?
The $40.00 is to help cover the cost of the entire venue and hor d'oeuvres . It was important that we support our city (Boston), thus we chose a location in the area. Many venues in Boston required a substantial minimum fee for a space that we would not be able to make our own. We felt that $40.00 was a reasonable price to pay for a private location, in the city, close to many of our homes, and Free parking . We all know this is a commodity in Boston and will normally cost you $25-$30 for a night. This price point was not arbitrarily chosen, it took into consideration everyone's unique financial situations without compromising the quality of our reunion experience.
After nearly a year of failed attempts, I’ve finally gotten in touch with our alumni association and they noted that they typically charge $30-35 for reunion registration at a public bar downtown. However, for $5 extra dollars we will have a private location with hor d’oeuvres and free parking! So, you save in the long run…
2. Can I pay at the door?
Yes you may. Registration cost at the door will be $50.00/ person. Cash Only! No exceptions.
3. Can I bring my spouse/ significant other to the event?
Absolutely! Show your spouse/ significant other that you came from an awesome class and that they should be jealous that they were not a part of those 4-6 years!
3. Will there be alcohol!!
Yes. There will be a cash bar with a selection of various wines, beers and mixed cocktails.
4. Reunion set-up/ style
It will be set-up like an after-work mixer/ cocktail hour. This set-up will allow us to actually talk, catch-up and learn about what’s going on in each other’s lives. Contrary to popular belief, Facebook stalking does not qualify as a life update and a FB wall-post is not a conversation!
Nonetheless, we'd like to re-iterate that we'll have the space to ourselves, so if we decide to "Party like it's 1999", 2003, or 2013, so be it!
5. What is the Dress-code?
There is no real dress-code, but we'd encourage you to dress to impress...dress for success...or dress like you want to be voted “Best Dressed” (wink, wink). However, we dare you to wear black with a splash of gold!! (After all, black is slimming anyways)
6. Are there Id requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
There is no age requirement, but an Id will be required in-order to purchase alcohol.
7. What are my transportation/parking options getting to the event?
They have a large *Free* parking lot and should be able to accommodate us all.
They are not very T-accessible, however you may take the Red Line to JFK/UMass then catch a cab to the venue.
8. What can/can't I bring to the event?
You can bring a positive attitude! You cannot bring bad vibes or weapons.
9. Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
You can email email@example.com
10. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, it is not required but preferred.
11. Want to learn more about the venue?
Check-out their website: http://www.phillipsboston.com/
They have a long history of serving private functions. As noted above, we will be in the Somerset Room . It has a very open floor plan and a dance floor .
12: Why was the venue location changed?
The previous venue (Sugar) is under-going a lot of positive changes. However, these changes cause us to question their ability to meet the needs of our reunion in the coming month.
Remember that 1st day in 1997 when you stood at the bottom of that stone staircase? You were a “Sixie”! Your heart raced with excitement (or fear); you didn't know what to expect as you desperately tried to avoid eye contact with the fully developed upper-class females or giant football players. Thinking back, maybe your fear stemmed from rumors you heard about Sixie Rush Day or that you had to take at least 5 years of Latin plus a second language! Better yet, maybe you were one of the fortunate or optimistic sixies who had the benefit of an older sibling already at Bla, so you felt the comfort of knowing you already had an alliance or had the fore-sight to know that you were about to form lasting friendships with people who have now witnessed your wedding, career advancements, childbirths, or helped you through difficult situations.
Maybe the first year you walked those dark, cold and seemingly endless corridors was in 1999 as a " Beesie"! You were afraid and didn't know how you were going to fit into a body of students whom had already had two years to form friendships; you didn’t like the idea of having to sit on the gym floor at this thing called a “pep-rally”, or maybe Richard “Dicky” Sullivan gave you the side-eye and yelled "you're late for class" as you desperately tried to figure out how to get to Room 336 from Room 101 and wondered where is this "cut-through" hallway that people keep talking about? Yet Finally, You Made It... We Made IT!!
Those 6 or 4 years flew by quickly, and here we are 10 years later from our graduation and those years seemed to have flown by even quicker!!
We are going to take this Black Friday Weekend and touch it up with a splash of Gold !!
Having second thoughts about attending the reunion?
I'd think again! Jabberwok isn't exactly from Mr. Rogers neighborhood!! ( Besides, Here are 10 great reasons to come! )
