Chameleon Arts Ensemble: a song of passing years
There are few things as extraordinary as the late works of master composers – intoxicating music that is intimate, highly expressive, and rich with the patina of experience. The program includes Brahms’ f minor Clarinet Sonata, Ravel’s Chansons Madécasses, Charles Ives’ Sunrise, and Georges Enescu’s Piano Quartet No. 2. Enescu composed the Quartet the height of World War II, combining folk inflections with late Romantic harmony to create a supreme masterpiece, wholly unique and deeply affecting.
