Talk: Black Boston and the Struggle for Education

Wednesday, May 22, 2013 12:00p to 1:00p

The growth of the educational system in Massachusetts played a pivotal role in shaping the fight for civil rights and abolition from the colonial period through the 20th century. Join us for a lively discussion of the struggle of African Americans to gain access to education in the City of Boston with Dorothy Spencer Rivera, Park Ranger, Boston African American National Historic Site. Ms. Rivera is a PhD student and gives tours relating to civil rights and abolition in 19th-century Boston.
