Please join us on Tuesday, May 7 at the UMass Club Boston for “A Conversation with John Wood,” to celebrate John’s new book, Creating Room to Read . John will be interviewed on stage by UMass Amherst Vice Chancellor for University Relations John Kennedy, a former ABC News TV producer.
John’s highly acclaimed first book, Leaving Microsoft to Change the World, tells the story of the founding of Room to Read, which aims to transform… Show more the lives of children in the developing world by focusing on literacy and gender-equality in education.
In Creating Room to Read, John Wood tells what happened when Room to Read began to scale beyond his wildest dreams. At its heart, the book shares moving stories of the people the organization works to help – impoverished children whose lives are transformed by the lifelong gift of education, including girls whose educations would otherwise be ignored.
Creating Room to Read is “…a riveting memoir, an inspirational handbook for social innovators, a career guide for young people, a witness for children in faraway places who could go under if we turn away, and alternative policy for the architects of American foreign policy and expensive wars.”
