BCE presents Déplorations

Saturday, Mar 9, 2013 8:00p

The act of deploration, or lament, has inspired composers to write some of the most powerfully moving music. This concert will include Josquin's famous Deploration on the death of Ockeghem, Tallis’s settings of the Lamentations of Jeremiah, and Tartini’s Stabat Mater dolorosa. We will also highlight different approaches to text interpretation with settings of When David heard from the renaissance and the twentieth century and conclude with the monumental 40-part motet Spem in alium by Tallis.
