This 10-day course covers the essentials needed to build fine woodworking projects. Topics include sharpening, tuning and the use of basic hand tools -paring chisels, hand plane, dovetail saw, card scraper and marking gauge; characteristics of wood & wood movement in furniture making; and the laying out and cutting of dovetails and mortise and tenon joinery. Develop skills such as chopping and paring with a chisel, and hand planing. Learn to lay out and cut dovetail and mortise-and-tenon joints.
