From the Top "Live" - Host Christopher O'Riley with America's Best Young Classical Musicians

From the Top, the popular showcase for America's best young classical musicians heard weekly on Classical New England, will tape a radio episode before a live audience at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall Hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O'Riley, audiences across the country have been swept away by the music and stories of the nation's most talented pre-collegiate performers. Don't miss this fun event! Recommended for ages 7 and up.

The broadcast taping features 15-year-old Shrewsbury… Show more pianist Vanessa Meiling Haynes. Vanessa studies music with Hung Kuan Chen and Tema Blackstone at the New England Conservatory Preparatory program. She was the second prize winner of the David D. Dubois Piano Competition which was judged by Christopher O'Riley. In addition to piano, she enjoys sports, including fencing, and cooking, baking, and music from movies.

Also featured will be teenage recorder player Bryan Duerfeldt from Bloomington, Minnesota. A 2012 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, Bryan has just started his freshman year at Yale University. A student of Clea Galhano, Bryan has performed with St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnetonka Symphony Orchestra, and Lyra Baroque. Bryan also plays clarinet, and enjoys klezmer style music. President of his high school national honor society, he enjoys math and physics, and hopes to be a mechanical engineer.
