Everybody comes to Chau Chow: young Asian toughs, elderly couples, families with little kids. If there was any question Dorchester was ready for a mega-restaurant serving authentic (and some Americanized) Chinese fare and daily dim sum, these diverse crowds are the answer. The food isn’t always spot-on, but it’s very good; what the restaurant lacks in consistency, it makes up for with variety (more than 200 items on the regular menu!) and a raucously festive spirit. Dinner at Chau Chow is a party, held halfway between Hong Kong and Chuck E. Cheese’s. (6/22/06 – Boston Globe Staff - Devra First)
