Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske, comprise the five-member filmmaking comedy group Broken Lizard.

Broken Lizard formed at Colgate University as a student sketch comedy group. Following graduation, they relocated to New York City, where they performed live shows in exchange for sexual favors.

The group began its feature film career with their award-winning debut Puddle Cruiser. Shot in 1996, Puddle Cruiser became an official selection at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival and went on to be part of the Berlin, London and Hamptons Film Festivals. At the Hamptons Film Festival Puddle Cruiser won the Grand Prize Golden Starfish Award.

They followed up with the independently-financed, cult-hit Super Troopers (Fox Searchlight), which premiered at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival and was released worldwide in February 2002. Besides earning $20 million at the box office, Super Troopers also found a massive audience in the home video market, selling over five million copies on DVD. They followed Super Troopers with yet another cult favorite, the horror-comedy Club Dread (Fox Searchlight) which was released in February of 2004.

In 2005, the group co-wrote and acted in the film remake of the popular 70’s television series The Dukes of Hazzard (Warner Bros), which was directed by Chandrasekhar. Following the success of Dukes, the Lizards signed a 3 year first look deal with Warner Brothers, where they have set up shop and hired a team of elves to help them craft comedy for the studio.

Broken Lizard’s most recent project, Beerfest (Warner Bros), was released in August 2006. In addition to Broken Lizard, the film also stars Will Forte (Saturday Night Live), Eric Christian Olsen (Not Another Teen Movie, Dumb and Dumberer), Mo’Nique and Cloris Leachman.

Broken Lizard is currently prepping for their next feature, The Slammin’ Salmon, scheduled to begin principal photography in January 2008.

Broken Lizard is currently writing another comedy for Warner Brothers titled, Alpha Males. In addition to writing, Broken Lizard is producing several other films for Warner Brothers including, Ambulance Chasers and Run For The Border. They are also producing Pony Bush for Dimension Films, Taildraggers with Participant Productions and Tow Truck with Tracy Edmonds’ Our Stories Films.
