"The Day that Never Comes" is finally here for fans of heavy metal icons Metallica. The band has announced plans to tour North American in support of their first studio recording in five years. Their new album "Death Magnetic," the band's ninth original studio album, is scheduled to release on September 12, 2008. The extensive tour begins in October and will land the band in the TD Banknorth Garden on Sunday, January 18, 2009.

Scheduled to open for the entire North American tour will be Texas-based heavy metal band The Sword. Also expected on tour with the band will be 2008 Grammy nominee Machine Head.
