mis-managed theatre

This theatre is the most mis-managed theatre I ever visited. Today, Christmas, 12/25/09, I have no idea what the schedule is. You call the phone # and get a recording that doesn't include Christmas day. No matinee listed for today, Friday, 12/25 when lots of people would like to see a movie. Last year or the year before, on Christmas day, they had a scheduled matinee which I drove 20 miles to see. I, along with a dozen other cars set in the parking lot waiting for it to open. After 45 minutes waiting we all left. I stopped in later in the week to ask the supposed manager why, and all he had to say was someone forgot to change the schedule and had a very negative attitude. I told him I would never frequent his theatre again. Now, I would like to see Avatar on christmas day, and again no set schedule either on their website or phone message. THEIR A JOKE. I'm going to try to find out who owns the theatre and let them know what a lousy job the FAT ASS manager does.

Pleasant experience

Over the last 3 1/2 yrs I have gone to this theater several times (I live in Desert Center)and other than my poor choice of movies,I have always been satisfied. Good popcorn, candy, and drinks. The restrooms have always been clean and neat and they have ice cream too!

Technical Difficulties

Every time I have visited this establishment, I have been disappointed. Having managed my own theater in the past, it is clear to me that the projectionist/manager at this location has had no formal booth certification. I have yet to watch a movie here where the picture is not out of focus, out of frame, threaded through the projector incorrectly, or set to the wrong aspect ratio.

These are not nit-picky complaints, mind you. When the edge of the film is in the middle of the screen, not only is the picture ruined, but the sound is distorted (on the old Dolby system, which this antiquated theater still uses). Then, for the next showing, there will be a green line running down the middle of the screen for the entire feature.

I watch the projectionist time and again observe these operational errors through his booth window, and yet he will simply walk away, apathetic! Only when someone gets up to complain does he actually strive to fix it, but because of his lack of training, he often does not know how.

I offered to assist on one occasion, but I was met with snooty resistance from the staff, so, like so many times before, I quietly took my refund and went home.
