Establishing a Purple Martin Colony Workshop

These iridescent, dark purple birds perform aerial acrobatics as they catch insects in flight. In our area, they nest almost exclusively in man-made houses, in large colonies. Ron LeGrand, a successful purple martin landlord for over 20 years, has fledged thousands of martins from his colony in Mattoon, IL.
