Pergolesi in Naples: David Daniels and Carolyn Sampson Sing "Stabat Mater"

Sunday, Oct 6, 2013 7:30p

Countertenor David Daniels sings Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the brilliant soprano Carolyn Sampson. Among the pinnacles of the Baroque period, Stabat Mater is a beautiful and melancholic hymn which has been described as “the most perfect and most touching to have come from the pen of any musician.” Rounding out this trip to Naples is a concerto grosso by Pergolesi’s mentor, Francesco Durante, and four arias and duets from Handel’s Italian operas, Rodelinda and Giulio Cesare.
