Hack the Sky? A Public Debate on the Question of Geoengineering

With greenhouse gas emissions continuing to rise, some scientists say we need begin researching what’s called “geoengineering” — ways to artificially reduce the amount of sunlight that hits the planet or tweak the oceans or plants to suck up more CO2. Ken Caldeira, a scientist at Stanford, says we need to start atmospheric experiments and consider deployment. Clive Hamilton, a professor at Charles Sturt University in Australia, warns that we should be cautious about pursuing such schemes.
