Opened in 2002 in the Berkeley Jazzschool, Jazzcaffè is a hidden treasure - a little spot of class in the midst of the busy downtown Theater District, right next door to the Jazzschool, Aurora Theatre Company and Berkeley Rep. Originally intended to serve a quick coffee for students and teachers, the cafe has become a gathering place for the great (and soon-to-be great) of the local jazz scene.
Our cafe is the perfect place for a bite of lunch or dinner, or a cozy coffee and pastry. A changing menu features house-made soups, salads and sandwiches, as well as beer, wine, espresso and desserts. Drop by for a great meal and some great music-a stolen moment or an entire afternoon-and you never know who you'll find sitting in for a few numbers on piano, bass or sax....
