The Build It Green Home Tour in Alameda and Contra Cost County will open 17 beautiful green-built homes to the public, showcasing the wide variety of innovative techniques and designs used in creating healthy, energy efficient homes. On the self-guided tour, participants navigate from home to home and talk to homeowners and builders about how each achieved a living space that features both luxurious design and smart green features, such as solar electric systems, radiant floor heating, sustainably harvested woods and other environmentally friendly products.
Keeping with the green theme, the Home Tour will have an organized bike ride traveling to several of the homes. Build It Green encourages attendees to keep your car at home and hop on a bike for the tour and/or take public transit. Visit www.ebbc.org for more information on the bike tour.
Location: Homes throughout Alameda and Contra Costa County, a guidebook provides details on exact locations of each green home.
Cost: Purchase of the tour guidebook for $30 per person serves as admission. Discounted $50 admission for two people.
