The Sweet Harlots have only been playing together a few short months, and already they have a summer full of festival appearances on the books. Violinist Julie Southwell and indie singer-songwriter Laurel Brauns play a soothing range of alternative folk and Americana and Irish influenced traditionals. Laurel has produced three full-length albums and has been working the New England and Pacific Northwest college circuit for the last six years. She recently moved to Bend after having a series of very successful shows here while she was out on tour. She met Julie on the Nordic ski trails of Mt. Bachelor and the two soon found they had a lot of musical interests in common. Julie's background is in world, folk, bluegrass, jazz, Celtic, classical and alterna music. She has played and recorded with Bend's Blackstrap, Moon Mountain Ramblers, Masala Mostest, David Bowers and Laurel Brauns. Recent interest and travel in Indian music and yoga has honed her improvisation and sacred/healing music pursuits. She has opened for David Grisman, played with Joe Craven, and demonstrated western music for 2000 at a temple in India. The Sweet Harlots are the newest addition to Bend's vibrant music scene - let them lead you astray. Visit laurelbrauns.com for more information.
