Santa Catalina Film Festival - May 4-6th 2012

For three full days SCFF celebrates independent film, but also Santa Catalina Island in all of its rich history, glory and beauty. It accredits mainstream filmmakers while its beneficiary, the Catalina Island Conservancy, gives their own “Isla Earth Award” to those filmmakers dedicated to promoting their goal of protecting, restoring, and experiencing the power of nature. SCFF is about the filmmakers’ opportunity to entertain, educate and inspire their audience, just like the island itself.

Catalina… Show more Film Festival, an annual celebration of film on the only West Coast resort island, features more than 75 films, nightly events and entertainment. From Charlie Chaplin to Marilyn Monroe, celebrities and filmmakers have flocked to Catalina for inspiration. Clear blue water and coastal breezes provide the perfect backdrop for unparalleled premieres, yacht and mansion parties, industry networking and discovering everything that the island has to offer, just 26 miles off the coast of Los Angeles. Films are screened at multiple venues around the island, including the iconic, art deco, 1,200-seat Avalon Theatre-- the world's first sound theatre.
