Taming The Texas Hill Country

Thursday, Apr 18, 2013 7:00p

Most Texans think of the Hill Country as that placid and picturesque region west of Austin. But following the Civil War, the Hill Country was the scene of Indian raids, cattle drives, and range wars. Order and law came only gradually, spearheaded by Texas Rangers. Pete Rose is a 5th generation Texan, a retired geologist now embarked on a second career as a historian, with a special interest in how frontier conflicts played out. Pete will be speaking with a book signing to follow.
