New Works: Michael Menchaca

Up-and-coming San Antonio artist Michael Menchaca re-figures the contemporary events and politics of the U.S.-Mexico border with an original cast of cartoon characters. In his colorful, highly symbolic and seemingly playful work, Menchaca recast the tough stories of drug smuggling, migrant immigration and human trafficking. Menchaca cleverly combines pre-Columbian visual storytelling with Pop Art style to understand cultural conflicts and misunderstandings.
