Was the Apostle Paul the Father of Christian Anti-Judaism? - American Lectures in the History of Religion

Wednesday, Apr 3, 2013 11:00a to 12:00p

John G. Gager, Princeton University, and 2013 lecturer in the American Lectures in the History of Religion, is delivering a series of lectures on early Christianity. Gager outlines three things about Paul: he was a controversial figure; he became a central figure in the New Testament; and he was (and is) interpreted as the originator of Christian anti-Judaism. Recently, this view has come under serious attack. Gager will survey these views, noting the role Jewish interpreters of Paul played.
