Lauren Jones & The Current started when Yanic overheard Lauren singing Jill Scott's "He Loves Me". Seeing the impact Lauren's voice has on her audiences, Yanic decided to augment her sound with soulful bass – as well as atmospheric guitar touches, and that's where Tim Allen came in. Not only do they compliment Lauren's sound, but, if one of them takes the melody Lauren's voice becomes an instrument itself as it playfully floats around the bass and guitar.
