The Coal Miner's Daughter has delighted audiences for over four decades with tales of her rags to riches journey from the poverty of the Kentucky hills to Nashville superstardom, all woven into a tapestry of songs that helped shape the country music scene of today.
A string of hits like "You Ain't Woman Enough (to Take My Man)," "Don?t Come Home A'Drinkin' (with Lovin' on Your Mind)," and her signature song, "Coal Miner's Daughter," established Loretta Lynn as a woman who stood up for herself and drew upon a homespun sense of humor.
The Songwriters Hall of Fame inducts Loretta Lynn along with Desmond Child, Albert Hammond, Alan Menken and John Sebastian at a ceremony on June 19 in New York City, adding her name to a distinguished list of country songwriters that includes Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton.
