Tijdens de Long Road Out of Eden Tour speelt de band – Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh en Timothy B. Schmit – zowel recente hits van ‘Long Out of Eden’ waaronder ‘How Long’ en ‘Busy Being Fabulous’, als ook klassieke nummers als ‘Hotel California’, ‘Desperado’, ‘Take It To The Limit’, ‘Life In The Fast Lane’ en ‘Take It Easy’.
Het vorig jaar verschenen album ‘Long Road Out of Eden’ is met meer dan 5.5 miljoen verkochte exemplaren internationaal een groot succes en haalde de nummer 1 positie in ondermeer Groot-Brittannië, Australië, Griekenland, India, Nieuw Zeeland, Noorwegen en Nederland. Het album is in negen gebieden waaronder Nederland platina (Groot-Brittannië en Australië zelfs dubbel) en in nog eens 15 gebieden goud. In de Verenigde Staten is het album inmiddels zevenvoudig platina. Het album werd vorige week genomineerd voor een Grammy Award voor Best Pop Vocal. De band kreeg eveneens een nominatie voor Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

I recall The Eagles were one of the groups that my father adored when I was a young boy. I suppose I inherited this adoration after actually sitting down and listening to their lyrics as opposed to "noise" in the background. Their music speaks to many areas of reality which is unlike most of the mainstream music today. "Hotel California", "Long Run", "New Kid In Town", and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" are the songs I remember most from The Eagles as a young boy, and now as I am older, they are still part of my iTunes playlist. :-)

Not as flashy as disco giants, not as loud as larval headbangers, not as pretty as David Bowie or luminous as John Lennon.... There are a lot of "not as" combinations you can make for the Eagles, but they've kept what they had better than most.
