A partisan political climate and noisy media landscape have created an environment in which science is easily drowned out by misinformation or manipulated by private interests. Meanwhile, our leaders grapple with some of the most complex and daunting problems in history. Kevin Knobloch, president of the Union of Concerned Scientists, will discuss how his organization works to restore the essential role of science, evidence-based knowledge, and constructive debate in US policymaking.
