Arctic Desert and Deserts by Design
Nearly half a million caribou migrate yearly across the Great Kobuk Sand Dunes. This exhibition is a photographic exploration of the Kobuk Valley National Park, 25 miles above the Arctic Circle in northwestern Alaska. It is accessible by foot, dogsled, snowmobile and chartered air taxis. Exhibition-related programs include a desert symposium, bringing together artists and designers from arid desert communities for a discussion of how environmental distinctions can define place.
