Chocolate (specifically cocoa) contains flavanols which have both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Various studies indicate that when subjects take a daily dose of dark chocolate, they have lower blood glucose levels, lower LDL/higher HDL cholesterol levels, and lower blood pressure.
