This workshop is for people who are interested in the wine field and for those who are in a wine-related field and want to take another step up in their careers. From running your own wine shop, to teaching your own wine course learn what it takes to make your way in the wine world. This workshop will help you to improve their careers in a wine-related field. Syllabus (tentative) Week One: Wine Careers will be discussed and definitions included of beverage manager, wine broker, importer, distributor, winemaker, wine shop owner, sales, marketing specialists, wine consultants, wine educators, wine writers, tasting room manager. Learn the skills required and how to get these jobs. Week Two: Tools of the Trade Using the Massachusetts Beverage Business Book, the best wine keys, decanting, wine glasses how to serve wine. (Invited speaker from Retail Field) Week Three: Wine Tastings How to run a tasting, a wine tasting room and a blind tasting. How to go to and enjoy a wine tasting included. (Invited local sommelier to speak) Week Four: Thoroughly Modern Wine In France, the "negociant" is a respected player in the wine world, and in the Us, this idea is just emerging with its own post-modern international twist. (90+ Cellars guest speaker) Week Five: The Science of Wine A large part of our understanding of wine is purely hedonistic, as it should be, but there's science to wine as well as magic.
