Albany Institute Lecture Series: Reading Ancient Lives: Translating Hieroglyphs

Sunday, Dec 8, 2013 2:00p

Joyce Haynes, Consultant Egyptologist, will share her fascinating investigation of the hieroglyphs and illustrated panels on Ankhefenmmut's coffin, mummy board, and lid. By reading the hieroglyphs and decoding the illustrations, she has been able to tell us who Ankhefenmut was, what he did in his lifetime, and how he prepared for the afterlife. This is part of a lecture series in connection with the Albany Institute of History & Art's exhibit "GE Presents: The Mystery of the Albany Mummies."
