Documentary Film: Unseen Tears

Wednesday, Jul 17, 2013 6:00p

Eye-opening account of “Indian schools” tore Native American children in NY from their families & communities. Dean Lori Quigley,Russell Sage College, a Seneca whose mother was forced to attend such a school, accessed the records at the State Archives to produce this short film. She will lead a discussion after. The attempt at forced assimilation is an example of a violation of the Two Row Wampum treaty under which European settlers promised to live in peaceful co-existence with Natives.
