University of Akron, Leigh Hall

Built in 1965 as a traditional classroom building, Leigh Hall has undergone extensive renovations to better support teaching and learning at The University of Akron.
The building now houses state-of-the-art, distance-learning facilities. Distance learning, or distributed education, utilizes videoconferencing equipment to connect two or more locations. Faculty and students communicate in real time in classrooms equipped with cameras and microphones. Materials are shared via document cameras, VCRs and DVD players, and software programs allow the sharing of computer applications.
