We would like to invite everyone in the Gracie Barra Georgia family to participate in the 6th Winter Classic on November 22nd, 2014.
Doors will open at 9:30am, and will have the honor of having Professor Alexandre "Dande" Santos teach us a seminar starting at 10am. You won't want to miss this! The seminar will end at 11:30am. You may bring canned goods for spectators admission or pay $5 to get in.
Professor Dande currently lives and teaches in Austin, TX. Professor is very well known by our Southern… Show more community, he was the Head Instructor at Gracie Barra Georgia for many years and helped form some of our senior students. Along with teaching, directing and managing his own school, Professor is an active competitor and always finds time to keep up with his own Jiu Jitsu learning by constantly teaching and attending Jiu Jitsu camps in and out of Us. If you have not yet met him, you don't want to miss the opportunity of meeting one of the most charismatic Professors the South has seen.
The internal tournament will start promptly at 12pm. We will start with the kids, followed by the adults. Belt Ceremony will take place after In House ends, we are estimating around 4pm. The event is scheduled to end at 5pm.
Seminar is open to All belts adults and all children. Tournament is open to kids, adults and seniors. There will be Only Open Division For Purple And Brown Adult. There will be a raffle for door prizes, food concessions and some local vendors.
We will have medals for all kids and winners of the adult brackets.
Weigh-ins will be completed the day of the event, prior to your fight.

-General Rules
NEW! Guard Jumping to closed guard is now illegal for all whitebelts in All ages/categories. Whitebelts may Pull guard to open guard, but cannot jump to closed guard.
Bent knee locks, neck cranks, bicep locks, heel hooks, cervical locks, scissor takedowns and slamming will not be permitted. The competitor will be disqualified if any of those techniques are used.
Guillotine or any type of foot locks will not be permitted for Kids (4-15) or any White belt competitor.
Leg locks or toe-holds will not be permitted for Blue and Purple belts, only straight foot locks.
Single elimination tournament for teens, masters, seniors and adults.
Two matches guaranteed for Little Champions 1, Little Champions 2 and Juniors. Those kids will have least 2 matches > Kids losing the 1st round will go to a special bracket and fight once more > All kids will receive medals.
Any competitor who does not show up for a match will automatically forfeit the match and registration fee.
Arrive 30 minutes prior to your match.
Competitor disqualified will lose his or her registration fee.
There is never a draw. Bouts will be decided by: points, submission, advantage, disqualification and referee interruption.
Gracie Barra Georgia LLC is not responsible for accident, injury, or death as a result of the tournament.
This tournament will be a double match for competitors under the age of 12: every competitor that loose in his/her first round will be eligible to fight one more time, guaranteeing at least 02 matches to all competitors.
-Points
Mount = 4 points
Back mount w/hooks = 4 points
Passing the guard = 3 points
Takedown = 2 points
Sweep = 2 points
Knee on stomach = 2 points
Advantage = It is considered an advantage when the athlete attempts but does not complete any of the fundamental moves of the fight; i.e. sweep, take down, submission etc. When there is a tie situation on the score the one who has more advantages will win.
Negative = Are penalties given to the athlete after committing a second offense .i.e. avoiding engaging, staling or not seeking ways to finalize the fight. On the first offense the offender will be given a verbal warning.On the second offense the offender’s opponent will be given an advantage.On the third offense the offender’s opponent will be given two points.After the third offense the referee may disqualify the athlete for any further fouls.
-Pro Division
Prize will be a Gi/ Rash guard/ Gracie Mag Year subscription for the 1st place only.
The purple and brown belt divisions will not be combined. Purple belts will fight purple belts and brown belts will fight brown belts.
-Uniform
Official Gracie Barra Uniform (Gi) is required and top and bottom colors should match. Only White or Blue Uniforms (Gis) are allowed for male kids and adults. Besides White or Blue Uniforms (Gis) the Pink Uniform (Gi) is also aloud for female kids and adults.
Underneath the gi are required, in the black color only, either: GB Rash Guard ( link ), GB Training Tee ( link ) or GB Training Tank Top ( link ).
Wrestling shoes are not permitted
The Uniform (Gi) checker official verifies before the fight if the Uniform (Gi) has the proper length.
-Restrictions
In all categories the central referee has the athority to stop a match when either of the competitors is in danger of serious bodily harm as a result of a submission and award the victory to competitor applying the submission.
Cervical locks or neck cranks are not allowed in any category except for chokes in the juveniles or adult divisions in all belts.
Athletes under 18 (Juveniles) are only allowed to compete in the open class if they are middle weight or heavier.
Wrestling shoes or any type of shoes, head gear and any kind of protectors that can alter the outcome of the match in any way are not allowed in competition.
In childrens divisions between 4-15years, when a competitor is executing a triangle and the opponent stands up it is the referees obligation to stand in a position to protect both athletes, specifically to reduce the risk of cervical damage.
